What are Screen Targets and how do they help?

Many FPS (First Person Shooter) game - Such as MW2, MW3, Gears of War 3, etc - use a fixed center point on the screen for aiming. Sometimes it's slightly off center vertically, but in most cases it's center screen horizontally. For games that do not use the dead center of the screen, the point is fixed at some location.

Developers of games will remove any reference to that center point in certain circumstances (for example if you are using a Sniper Rifle in MW2, or behind cover in GOW3). a Screen Target eliminates this problem by attaching to the center point of the screen. This allows you to hip fire or blind fire with devastating accuracy.

Screen Targets allow quick-scopers to be much faster and much more accurate. The video below demonstrates why.
